What two people should budget

The menu costs $115 per person, and the printed price leaves out tax and gratuity. Galit adds a 20% hospitality charge to every bill, which goes to its hourly staff, plus an optional 4% employee benefits contribution. For two, that's $230 in menus, $276 with the hospitality charge and $285.20 with the 4% as well, before tax and drinks. These examples assume both percentages apply to the menu subtotal. Confirm the calculation with Galit.

Two supplements change the total. Lobster as your main adds $20, and Golden Kaluga caviar with your mezze adds $45. If both of you choose lobster, the total with both charges is $334.80. Any extra tip goes to the front-of-house team.

Cocktails cost $16 to $19 and wine by the glass $15 to $20. Galit offers a rotating wine accompaniment but doesn't publish its price, so ask your server.

Reservations, Notify Me and walk-ins

Book on Resy up to 60 days ahead. If the date you want is full, select Notify Me. Galit suggests installing the Resy app with notifications on, so you hear first when a table opens. Walk-ins are welcome at the communal table, but that's a gamble, not a replacement for a reservation.

Galit is open Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 10:30 p.m. It's closed Monday. We couldn't load Resy's booking page, so we haven't confirmed its cancellation terms or any card hold. Check them before you book.

Transfers and the maximum reserved party size are unverified. The communal table has nine seats, which does not establish the reservation limit.

Diets, bottles and getting there

Galit doesn't print separate menus for diets, but says every course has vegan, gluten-free and nut-free options. Tell your server when you sit down. The FAQ says nothing on the menu is made with pork and shellfish is rare, although the September 25 menu included crab and lobster. About half the menu is vegetarian. The restaurant isn't kosher or halal and suggests the vegetarian dishes for guests who keep either.

Corkage is $50 per 750 ml bottle, two bottles at most. There's no valet or parking lot, and street parking is on Lincoln, Halsted, Altgeld and Fullerton. Galit doesn't do takeout or delivery. For a celebration, decide whether counter seats suit your group before you reserve.

Seating, booking and dietary information

Meal duration, age rules, dress code and detailed access are unpublished. Ask about the route and finish time before booking for a guest with mobility needs or a fixed-time event. For complex dietary needs, our advice is to obtain approval before booking rather than waiting until you sit down.

Compare before booking

Indienne's vegan menu is $324 for two with mandatory service, before its optional surcharge, tax and drinks; Galit is $276 on that basis. Galit lets guests choose mezze and a main, while Indienne has a separate vegan tasting track.

BOKA offers individually ordered à la carte dishes and takes bar reservations. At Galit, the bar serves waiting guests drinks only; a meal without a reservation depends on communal-table space. For a larger or more complex dietary request, obtain approval before counting on Galit's course options.
